Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Matte ("the App"), a macOS application developed by Jose Saez-Merino ("we", "us", or "our"). By downloading, installing, or using Matte, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Matte for personal or commercial purposes, subject to these Terms.

• Free Version: You may use the free version indefinitely. Exports will include a watermark.
• Paid Version: A valid license removes the watermark and unlocks full functionality. Licenses are per-user and may be used on multiple devices you own.

2. Restrictions

You agree not to:

• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
• Share, sell, or transfer your license to others
• Use the App for any unlawful purpose
• Remove or alter any proprietary notices in the App

3. Purchases and Refunds

Payments are processed through our payment provider (Polar). All purchases are subject to their terms of service.

We offer a 15-day money-back guarantee. If you're not satisfied with your purchase, contact us at support@matte.app within 15 days for a full refund—no questions asked.

4. Updates

We may release updates to improve functionality, fix bugs, or address security issues. Lifetime licenses include all future updates at no additional cost. Subscription licenses include updates for the duration of your subscription.

5. Intellectual Property

Matte and all related materials are owned by Jose Saez-Merino. Your purchase grants you a license to use the software, not ownership of the software itself.

Content you create with Matte belongs to you. We claim no rights over your recordings, exports, or creative work.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

Matte is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or meet your specific requirements.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of Matte.

8. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your license immediately if you violate these Terms. Upon termination, you must stop using the App and delete all copies from your devices. Sections regarding intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitations of liability survive termination.

9. Support

Support is provided via email at support@matte.app on a best-effort basis. While we aim to respond within 48 hours, we do not guarantee specific response times.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms. We will notify users of significant changes via email or in-app notification.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Spain. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of Matte shall be resolved in the courts of Madrid, Spain.

12. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

13. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the App, superseding any prior agreements or communications.
